Through the workshops, Q&A sessions, and song critiques, you’ll learn what it takes to write a hit song and how to navigate the elusive music industry.

COLLABORATIONS

By writing with other people, you’re given the opportunity to bounce ideas back and forth, developing it until it’s the strongest, catchiest lyric possible. That’s why most hit songs have 3+ cowriters on it: 3x the creative power.

At the retreat, each day Judy pairs in groups of three write a brand new song. When 3 different perspectives and sets of talent join forces for the purpose of creating a great song, writers are able to craft the strongest possible lyric and melody.

CONNECTIONS

After the retreat, you’ll have the lifelong friends and collaborators that you met on your experience, as well as our alumni network of 500+ songwriters and artists from around the world who have gone through the same training process and experiences, giving you writing connections wherever you go.

CHANGE

Judy built the retreats to be a safe space for personal growth in music and beyond. Her workshops are tailored to challenge you to explore who you are at a core level and break you out of your comfort zone. By doing this, not only will your songs get better, but you will leave feeling invigorated and confident.

Through morning yoga, daily cowrites, evening performances, and more you’ll leave with a stronger sense of self, empowering you to take on things you could only dream of before. Countless stories come back to me about the personal growth retreats made after they went home. One writer lost 60+ lbs after the retreat, another submitted a jingle and won a contest he was too afraid to enter before, another wrote 100+ songs after completing the retreat. Retreaters consistently come back to me saying how life-changing the retreat was for them, as songwriters, and as human beings.

About Judy

Judy Stakee is a legendary music publisher, author, speaker, and artist mentor known for her work as Sr. VP of Creative Warner/Chappell Music where she signed and worked closely with many of today’s most acclaimed artists and songwriters, including Sheryl Crow, Katy Perry, Michelle Branch, Gavin DeGraw, Jewel, Joy Williams, John Shanks, Julian Bunetta, and more.

In 2009, she noticed a problem in the new music industry - a lack of artist development. So, Judy created her own company to address the issue by developing a methodology to teach artisans and songwriters how to be their best, utilizing her 40+ years of music industry experience. Her approach is simple: by strengthening the mind, body, and soul, you are also strengthening your lyrics, melody, and voice.
